Deezer.com formerly known as Blogmusik.net is a free Internet-based music-on-demand service. Deezer offers on-demand ad-supported streaming in a similar manner to imeem.com, with a portion of the ad revenue being delivered to content partners. The site has been the center of some controversy, with record companies such as Universal alleging that the service “illegally” hosts copyrighted material. [1] Deezer, on the other hand, claim that their agreements with SACEM, a French organization similar to the US-based RIAA, allow them to host the disputed content.

Internet radio companies big and small are revving up for a fight with the Copyright Royalty Board that could lead to the halls of Congress and — some fear — the end of streaming music stations in the United States.

The panicked preparation follows last Friday’s buzz-killing bombshell: As 50 million or so online radio listeners geared up for their weekends, the board released new royalty rates representing a potential tenfold increase webcasters would have to pay out.

In the old, percentage-based fee system, webcasters paid SoundExchange — the Recording Industry Association of America-associated organization that pushed the Copyright Royalty Board to adopt the new rates — between 6 percent and 12 percent of their revenue, depending on audience reach. The new system charges all webcasters a flat fee per song per listener; for instance, in 2007, streaming companies would owe $0.0011 per song per listener (rates change based on year).

Boston singer Brad Delp was found dead in his home in southern New Hampshire on Friday, but there was no indication of any foul play according to police statements.

Delp, 55, helped bring Boston to the top of the rock charts during the 70s and 80s with a string of hit singles including “More Than a Feeling,” “Long Time,” and “Peace of Mind.” Although their popularity began to wan, Boston remained an active part of music and released the studio album ‘Corporate America’ in 2002.

Born in Boston, Delp discovered the guitar at age 13 after watching the Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. Since 1994, Delp had pursued new music projects – such as a tribute band called Beatle Juice, according to information on the band’s website said.
