crates Windows XP makes it easy to adjust what happens when you want to transfer media file to your computer or just play or view them, be it Music, Pictures, Video or DVD’s. The secret is in the AutoPlay settings. Lets take a look at how to adjust them. First

  1. Open My Computer or an Explorer window.
  2. Right click your CD or DVD drive and choose Properties.
  3. Click the AutoPlay tab.
  4. Use the drop down box to choose what you want to control.
  5. Make sure the Select an option to perform is checked.
  6. In the Options section Choose what you want to happen when you insert media into your computer.
  7. If you want to be prompted each time choose Prompt me each time to choose an action.
  8. If you make a mistake you can always click the Restore Defaults button.
  9. Click Apply and your all set.

  1. This doesn’t always work as some programs like PowerDVD will close your original program that you wanted to open the media with and then change to it e.g. PowerDVD.
