Create An Invisible Folder To Hide Your Secret Files

book Here’s a trick I’ve been using for quite awhile to hide folders and files from the casual snooper. (Caution before you do this remember where you put the folder if you create it on your desktop, it will be hard to find.

  1. Create a new folder, whether on your Desktop or in an existing folder.
  2. Right click the new folder and choose rename.
  3. Hold down the Alt key and on your number pad press 255. It will only work if you use the number pad. So its Alt255 and the Icon name will disappear.
  4. Now we need to make the folder disappear also. Right click the folder and choose Properties.
  5. Click the Customize tab then the Change icon button.
  6. Click the slider to the right till you come to one of the blank icons and click it. (It will just be a blank space between the other icons) then click Ok twice.
  7. Now you just created an Invisible folder.

You can only create 1 Invisible folder per directory cause you can only have 1 folder named Alt255. Now you can store whatever you want in it. Just don’t forget where you put it. To find it again if you have it on your desktop when you hover your mouse over it your curser will change or press Ctrl+A to highlight everything on your desktop and you’ll see it as a small vertical line.

@ Ivy, I’ll research further but I believe that’s correct, But if you have a extra USB keyboard around you can use that to set it up. Thanks for visiting.
